Airmic evening lecture: Political Risk

25th April 2017  16:45 - 16:45 (GMT+01:00) Europe/London

AIRMIC EVENING LECTURE - POLITICAL RISK

General Sir Alexander Richard David Shirreff KCB, CBE was a senior British Army officer. From March 2011 to March 2014 he served as Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe.

In 2016, Shirreff published a book entitled 2017: War with Russia: An Urgent Warning from Senior Military Command. It suggests that Russia could easily invade the Baltic States, war between Russia and NATO would be possible, and alleges that former Secretary of State for Defence Philip Hammond tried to court-martial him when he spoke up on British defence cuts!

Sir Richard will be talking about how military commanders face ambiguous and fast moving circumstances, which can change in rapid and unexpected ways. What can business leaders learn from the military’s approach to risk management?

This will be a valuable insight from the perspective of one of the UK’s most senior military officers who has only recently retired.
